Cost of Motorcycle Parts

Buy a motorcycle and the dealer will tell you to buy only genuine ones whenever required. What is actually meant is to buy Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) motorcycle parts, the ones manufactured by the original vehicle manufacturer. The idea is that OEM parts are compatible; do not interfere with warranty terms and of better quality. What the dealer fails to mention is that they are also more expensive.

If your car or motorcycle develops a problem and you need to replace a component, the first decision that you will have to make is either to buy OEM or parts made my others.

The USP of OEM car parts or others parts is that they are made according to specifications and better suited for your vehicle. That is obviously true but the reality is that not all motorcycle parts are made by the company that made the original vehicle. Just as an original vehicle manufacturer gives out contracts to other units, some manufactures apply for rights to produce motorcycle parts. Such aftermarket ones manufactured by reputed companies are as good as or even better than OEM parts and a lot cheaper. In some cases, the ancillary manufacturer may even develop on the original design and produce a better product.

Aftermarket parts are often required by bikers fond of customising their motorbikes for better performance and looks. Considering the vast variety of motorcycle parts available in the market it is even possible to create an as good as original bike.
