Consumer Rights Regarding Debt Collection - Know These Alternatives to Bankruptcy

There is still a major chunk of consumers who are not aware of the consumer rights regarding debt collection. They are not aware of the fact that debt relief is supported by the policies of the Federal govt. and that the creditors themselves have opened up for settlement deals. They think that since they have become defaulters and since they are repeatedly failing to repay the installments, they need to file for bankruptcy as this is the only way they can get out of debt. They are wrong! There are alternatives which exist and they can make use of these alternatives to get debt relief because these alternatives fall under the purview of consumer rights regarding debt collection.

The consumers are a major part of the economy and if they fail to maintain balance in their financial life, the other economic units lose balance and the entire economy falls apart. This is not at all wanted and it is because of this reason that the consumer rights are designed. The best alternative that the consumers can exercise is the method of debt settlement. The policies of tax breaks and stimulus cash which are designed by the Federal govt. to give relief to the creditors are indeed designed to open up the creditors for debt settlement deals.

Once the creditors open up for the settlement deals, the consumers can get debt relief. Not only this, the consumers do not lose their credit score at the end and they retain credibility. This helps them to get back onto a healthy financial track. The creditors on the other hand get back a part of the money that they would otherwise lose in case the consumers filed for bankruptcy. The amount of money that they lose and the loss that they bear is covered by the stimulus cash and tax breaks respectively.

Thus the creditors know that they don't lose at the end in case they go for settlement and therefore, they readily eliminate a certain percentage of the debt the consumers have with them and give relief to the debtors. It is therefore advised to the consumers to go for alternative method of debt elimination and keep aside bankruptcy as the last resort!
