Purchasing a hoodia cactus extract? Don't get scammed! There are 3 things you absolutely must AVOID. If you see a retailer with these on their website, hit the "back" button!
The hoodia cactus extract is a popular form of appetite suppression. But unless you plan on losing your money rather than your pounds here are the 3 things you absolutely must AVOID!
Hoodia Cactus Extract Avoidance Number 1: AVOID PRODUCTS WITHOUT CERTIFICATION
A retailer must display on their website a copy of the C.I.T.E.S Certificate (The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) and the Analytical Report in order to be retailing a genuine Hoodia diet supplement. Since Hoodia is a protected plant it can only be sold to an exporter who has this certificate.
Hoodia Cactus Extract Avoidance Number 2: AVOID HOODIA THAT IS NOT LICENSED BY THE WESTERN CAPE CONSERVATION AUTHORITY OF SOUTH AFRICA.
Due to the legal dispute that arose between Phytopharm and the native Bushmen of the Kalahari desert (Phytopharm initially did not credit the Bushmen with helping them to discover Hoodia until South African lawyer Roger Chennells won the case) any manufacturer must pay royalties to the Bushmen. If a manufacturer is telling you that they can legally sell authentic Hoodia without doing this then they are SCAMMING YOU!
The best companies will display the results of their own independent lab tests to verify that the specific version of the Hoodia cactus extract that you are purchasing has been proven to be effective.
Hoodia Cactus Extract Avoidance Number 3: AVOID A HOODIA PRODUCT WITH ADDED FILLERS.
Some binders and fillers are necessary simply to make the pill but there are some ingredients you should avoid. These include Ma Huang, Ephedra and Ephedrine. Manufacturers often add these products to mask the fact that their product contains little or no Hoodia. Various forms of these ingredients can be dangerous and cause side effects such as a racing heart and diarrhoea.
Check the ingredients list, especially if the pill you are considering is especially cheap (under approx $30 per bottle). Authentic hoodia is expensive because it is RARE. But think of it this way. It is better to make a real investment in your diet and most importantly your health rather than throw your money away on a sub-standard product.
Some varieties of the hoodia cactus extract do include caffeine or green tea. These are not dangerous but you need to be aware of them if you have a sensitivity or allergy to caffeine or simply want to reduce your caffeine intake.
If you can avoid these 3 things you are well on your way to finding an authentic hoodia diet supplement. A little bit of research before you purchase goes a long way to finding the best hoodia cactus extract product for your dollar!
