Consider Using a Baby Reflux Wedge

Any baby that suffers from acid reflux will frequently be in a lot of pain.  How a baby is laid down can trigger the pain.  For this reason, parents need to consider how they are laying their babies down to sleep.  Using a baby reflux wedge can relieve the pain.

Once your baby is laid down and no longer has gravity working on his or her side to keep liquids in the stomach, the milk will likely start flowing upwards.  This is going to cause heartburn.  You might even be able to hear the liquid as it flows the wrong direction.  If you do not hear your baby's painful screams at this point, you might hear a sad little whimper.

Every baby is affected by acid reflux differently.  Some suffer severely, while others suffer mildly.  Regardless of how your baby suffers, you will want to reduce the pain.  A baby reflux wedge works wonders for this.

If you choose not to use a baby reflux wedge, you will have to take steps to ensure that your baby is propped at an angle throughout the day and night.  You can prop one end of your baby's cot at an angle of at least 30%.  When your baby is still little and doesn't wriggle around much in his or her sleep, the head can be propped even further.  The idea is to raise your baby's head as high above the stomach as possible.

Regardless of how the cot is propped, it has to be safe.  There are special lifts that can be used to raise the cot legs and special sheets that keep the baby from rolling.  While there are a number of ways to accomplish what you've set out to do, a baby reflux wedge is probably the easiest and most cost-effective method.  It is also extremely safe because it has been designed specifically for this purpose.

Keep in mind, your baby will be more prone to acid reflux when he or she is laid flat on the back.  Rather than lying your baby on his or her back, consider putting your baby to sleep, lying on its side.  Some babies are unable to sleep on their sides.  If your baby is unable to sleep through the night on his or her side, you will have no other option but to place your baby on its back.  If this is the case, you will have to elevate your baby's head.  Otherwise, nobody will get a good nights rest.

When you do make use of a baby reflux wedge, you will have to consider your baby's age and the size of the cot.  Once your baby is able to move around in his or her sleep, using a shorter and narrower cot will reduce the chance that your baby will move off of the wedge.

With some patience and experimentation, you will find the best way to use a baby reflux wedge to prop your baby's head up while he or she is sleeping.  This is definitely the best way to improve your baby's sleep and the sleep of everyone in the house.
