Due to a shortage of health staff, often there are many hours of work made available and this is evident during times of illness such as the influenza and swine flu season. Most organizations rely on a casual pool of staff but prefer to have fulltime employment staff that they can place on a work roster. Hospitals and Nursing Homes at times will offer free training in return for the trainee promising to sign on for a further period of time after they have become certified. During this free training the organisation will pay a weekly wage to you and provide you with on the job training.

Other methods of study are to attend a dedicated and accredited training organisation, a college or perhaps online training might suit your lifestyle better. All training does have an on the job component where you have to work on the wards to gain practical experience.

On completion of your training an examination is held both written and practical.  When you have passed the examination you will receive your accreditation that is nationally recognised.

Your training will provide you with the skills and confidence to perform this work where you are forming a strong link in the medical care team. There can be nothing more rewarding then to be a strong team member in the clinical care team of any health provider organisation.
