Compare and Buy Video Graphic Cards

Expert Author Amit Kishore Verma

If you are having problems and confusion in buying the graphic card, then don't worry as you are not the only one facing it. It is definitely difficult to compare video card as there is a huge variety of them, each with different features and different technology used. To do the proper graphic card comparison, the following points are to be considered:

AGP of PCIe Slot?

The traditional one is the AGP slot type which is then inserted in the mother board. It was the standard one from a long time. With the launching of PCIe slot, it seems that AGP slot would soon be over. The PCIe slots are much advanced as the slot boosts the speed up to 4 times as compared to the AGP slot and even supports the latest multiple video cards combination. This provision is not available in the AGP slot. So it is advisable to get the PCIe graphic card as it is the future.

The Bandwidth?

It comes in two forms. GDDR2 or GDDR3. It is referred to as the bandwidth. GDDR2 is the traditional one and has been used by the manufacturers of the graphic cards from a long time. The biggest drawback of it was that it gets extremely overheated. So taking into consideration this problem, ATI has developed something new like the GDDR3. It is many times better than the traditional one as it consumes lesser energy, and also has higher and more flexible bandwidth. These days, GDDR3 is preferred. Though a little expensive but certainly worth it.

Memory?

There are many options available in this too. A 512MB card is more than enough to handle anything you want. So, if you can spend, then the 512MB card would be ideal and would serve you for a long time without getting obsolete.
