College Weight Loss Secrets - 5 Tips to Lose the Freshman 15

Anyone who made it through their first year at college will tell you; college can have a serious effect on your physique and your waistline.

With the stresses of exams, seemingly impossible assignment deadlines and the long nights partying with friends, staying in shape is definitely harder in college than anywhere else.

The goal of this article is to provide you with tips on how you can better prepare so that you will find it easier to stay at your current weight and successfully avoid falling victim to the freshman 15.

1. Limit the number of drinks you consume - Alcohol is full of empty calories and there is really nothing else out there that will pack on the pounds like when you consume too much alcohol.

2. Don't Snack - stress from classes and college life can often times cause students to eat snack foods when they really aren't hungry. Watch out for this, because if you aren't carefully, you'll find yourself snacking for no reason and before you know it, that whole bag of chips will be gone. If possible, try to snack healthy.

3. Make your own lunch - college cafeterias are not known for serving the healthiest of foods. Stay away from the deep fried foods whenever possible. By packing your own lunches, you stand a better chance of controlling the impulse consumption of foods that are not good for you.

4. Exercise regularly - It might seem like your schedule is packed and that there is no way you could squeeze in a trip to the gym. The truth is, while your schedule might seem packed, the reality is that if you were to look closely, I'm pretty sure you could find 30-60 mins that you could dedicate to keep yourself healthy.

5. Skip the fast food! - McDonalds and Burger King are not your friends. Avoid eating fast food whenever possible. Fast food is just plain bad - not only for your health but also for your physique.

There you have it. 5 tips to help keep the freshman 15 away and still have a great time at school your freshman year.
