God commands parents to provide a Biblical education. Ephesians 6:4 "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."

God instructs parents to provide constant Biblical instruction. Duet 6:7 "my Commandments...Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."

While Biblical instruction certainly can be accomplished outside of school hours, the child ends up hearing conflicting messages. The Supreme Court kicked God out of public school over 40 years ago and the anti-God/anti-Christian message is prevalent in all aspects of the public school day. Children can spend 30 to 40 hours a week in public school being told that God does not exist, or even if He did exist he is no longer relevant. The repetition of this message is destructive and undermines the messages heard at home and church.

Christian schools have the opportunity to submerse the student in Biblical teaching. Not only is the Bible taught as the inspired Word of God, but it is also the foundation of all other texts. In math, in social studies, in biology, all subjects can include God.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

It would be difficult to attain knowledge and wisdom without the careful teaching of God's word. Education that makes God's Word central will not only produce spiritually-mature Christians, it also makes them wiser and more knowledgeable. And isn't that what all parents want for their children?

A school that teaches and models morality leads to a safer school. When authority is respecting, discipline becomes an easier task. A Christian school teaches and models submission to authority under Christ as well as those leaders who've been placed over us in this world. In addition to physical well-being, Christian schools offer a safer emotional and spiritual environment. Verbal insults and hazing, things that may go overlooked in a public school setting, are less likely to be tolerated.

If you are concerned about academics, you should be aware that students at Christian schools consistently out-perform their public school counterparts. Their standardized test scores are way above the curve, and they're better prepared for college upon graduation. Class sizes tend to be smaller in a Christian school providing more individual attention. Additionally, parents of students in Christian school are generally more involved in the education process, are more concerned about their students progress, and volunteer more hours in the school providing the extra help or projects that make a students experience exciting.
