Choosing the Right Roofing Contractors

When searching for Roofing Contractors, it is crucial to do your research. A roofing business is one of the simplest businesses to start allowing anyone with a couple of tools to claim to be a roofing professional.

When you start your search for roofing contractors, you should begin with the simplest of places: BBB, and Angie's List. The Better Business Bureau can be a great source for finding out previous complaints that a specific company has had. However, don't be mislead by the BBB Accreditation. Practically any roofing business can pay a small fee and become accredited. So just use the BBB to look for complaints. Now Angie's List can be a much better tool. Angie's List doesn't accept money to be included in the list. The only way a Roofing Company can get into Angie's List is by someone filing a report, good or bad about that specific business. So the information you will find will be much more creditable than the BBB.

Another step you can do to narrow down the list of roofing contractors is to search the internet for local roofing contractors websites. If a contractor has a website you will be able to browse their photo gallery, see their mission statement, and get some good, overall information about the company before you even pick up the phone.

Once you have narrowed down your list of contractors, you should require each of them to provide proof of insurance and worker's compensation, which will protect you in the event a worker would get injured while repairing your roof.

Always remember, you get what you pay for. You should only get bids from roofing contractors after you have verified the above steps. If one of the contractors price is much less or more expensive, you should ask that contractor to explain why theirs is more or less. This way you can make sure all of the contractors are offering the same products and services.

Best of luck in your search for roofing contractors, and hope the best for your new roof.
