Have you ever noticed the toxic effect that some foods have on your body? Years ago, before I began to develop the skills of 'Conscious Eating', all I concentrated on was trhe food I loved and wanted. I was out of touch with my bodily signals. I never realised that some foods had a positive effect on my body whilst others signalled they really didn't suit me.
What I was doing was ignoring the physical and emotional problems that certain foods created within me...
~ Making my muscles stiff and soar;
~ Causing my joints to ache;
~ Making me feel bloated;
~ Making me feel tired;
~ Making me feel low or depressed.
When your mind is not in touch with your bodily signals it is all too easy to eat food that is damaging to your health and wellbeing. It is also far from being a self-loving act to ingest food that later brings discomfort, pain or unhappiness.
Conscious eating is a skill that many of us lost when we hooked into the dieting game. Without this skill permanent weight loss is an unattainable goal, for many people. Why? Because it forms a natural part of a life of healthy eating!
It takes the focus away from what we eat and onto how we feel. No longer is there a need to battle with food; craving for that which we withhold. Instead, we allow our body to feed us with the information about what it really needs that is loving and health giving.
The more consciously we begin to eat, the more in tune our mind is with our body. Gradually you began to discover the foods that really motivate every cell of your body. These are the foods that...
- Fill you with vitality and energy;
- Never cause you indigestion;
- Never leave you craving for more of the same;
- Enable all the cells in your body to work effectively;
- Cause you no pain or discomfort;
- Work in harmony with your body.
- Leave you feeling happy and motivated;
Seeking out the foods that motivate does not mean making some foods 'bad'. You can still eat them occasionally, in small quantities, in the knowledge that they will have a negative or toxic effect on your body. The great thing is that the more you learn to love yourself and your body, the less you want to eat the foods that cause you any discomfort, pain or demotivation.
