Choosing a Cat Food - 3 Tips For Healthy Kitties
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

There are quite literally a billion different cat foods out there. It can be difficult to decide which brand to choose, but these tips can help make it a bit easier.

1. Cheap Foods Are No Good

This one should be self explanatory, but for some reason it isn't. Research has shown that cats will eat as much as they need to maintain their nutrient levels. Cheaper foods packed with fillers will just make the cat eat more to compensate. In the end, you'll have a fat cat and no real savings on your cat food budget since you'll be blowing through food much faster.

2. Avoid by-products and meal

I wouldn't voluntarily eat anything that had "by-product" in its name. Meat by-products include things like brain, kidneys, liver, and spleen. Sounds appetizing? I didn't think so. "Meal" is another process that produces similarly scary things.

3. Pick Natural Preservatives over Artificial Ones

Some of the artificial preservatives in cat food (such as BHA and BHT) are suspected carcinogens. If that doesn't sound like something that you want your cat eating, grab a cat food with natural preservatives like vitamins E and C.

Stick with these tips and yo'll be able to select quality food for your cat that won't kill it. When you're picking a cat food, pick something that, if you were a cat, you'd want to eat. Also, vary the type of food your cat eats. You wouldn't want to eat instant noodles every day for the rest of your life, would you? Fluffy wouldn't either!

Did you know that you can communicate with your cat like it's another person? With Ultimate Cat Secrets you can learn everything there is to know about your kitty such as how to train it to do anything or stop it from misbehaving completely!
