Your workshop or seminar venue has to be a match for your ideal client. When you select the right location, there is a synergy between you and the audience. They feel comfortable and are receptive to what you have to say. However, if you choose the wrong venue for your audience, there will be a disconnect and you end up alienating your audience and losing your credibility.
For instance, if you have a high-end clientele, you don't want to put an audience of seven-figure earners into a community center. That just doesn't establish your credibility. The seven-figure earners will just not show up for that particular workshop. If your ideal client is a seven-figure earner you have to put them in a seven-figure earner venue.
The same goes the other way as well; you don't want to put a workshop for beginning entrepreneurs in a five-star resort or on a cruise ship. Because beginning entrepreneurs are bootstrapping it. Let's face it; we have all been beginning entrepreneurs at some point, and the focus is on earning money not spending it on frivolous things. If you're going for beginning entrepreneurs, you can put it in a hotel but you don't want to go overboard because you don't want them to feel that they're wasting their money. They want to know that it's more about the education and less about the surroundings.
The other reason why it's so important to find the right venue is that you don't want to buy too much or too little, you have to know what is included in the venue, you may not want or need everything. Some venues have everything included. But if you buy a package that includes everything and you don't really need it, you waste a ton of money. Your Winning Workshop should be about profitability and not about wasting money.
You also don't want to buy too little; you want to make sure that the venue has what you need. If you need AV, you want to make sure that they have it or that you can bring it in. If you need food and beverage, you want to make sure that they have the support and set up, that you're not completely on your own. You want to check that it is available and you don't have to spend additional time, money and resources to bring it in.
