The first question a prospective eBay seller asks is, "What should I sell?". There are so many options to explore, so when deciding what to sell on eBay, there are a few questions that you should ask yourself first:

1) Are you interested in hard goods or soft goods? Soft goods are typically textile items like clothing, fabric, and bedding supplies. Hard goods are generally non-disposable and include such items as home furnishings, computer equipment, and house wares.

2) In what particular products are you personally interested? Are you an expert on anything that can be sold on eBay? If you are, then this is what you should be selling. Knowing your product is a key ingredient in being able to sell anything.

3) How hard will it be for you to ship your item? Can your goods be packed in envelopes and standard sized boxes or do you have to buy specialty sizes? Will the shipping of your product require the use of bubble cushions, Styrofoam peanuts, or other packaging materials to ensure they arrive safely? A person working alone would more than likely not enjoy carrying several humongous packages into the post office.

4) What is the size of your items? Do you have the space to store your merchandise? Do you need to maintain a specific environment in order to keep your products marketable? If so, will you be able to maintain the necessary conditions?

5) Is it easy to get the product that you are interested in selling? Are the products local or do you have to wait on them to be shipped to you?

6) Are you able to make a profit on the item you are considering offering to the eBay buying public? Is there a need or desire for your product? How long is this need or desire predicted to last? How much are you willing to pay for your products? What will be your selling price? Your break even price and your profit margin?

These are just a few questions you need to ask yourself when you're deciding what to sell on eBay. Once you identify the right product for you, then the only thing that is left is to sell your item and put the money in the bank.
