A choice parent is a single person who decides to become a single parent before taking any action. Their children are not results of divorce or any other failed relationship. Choice parents choose to have a child with full knowledge that they will be the sole caretaker. Why would anyone choose to take on the task of rearing a child alone? Well, there are various reasons.
Most people who choose single parenthood would prefer to raise kids within a two-parent home. People go forward with this type of decision after careful thought and sometimes a long period of mourning of the family they always wished for, but will never have. Some people do have the baby bug, and see children as an accomplishment of a social expectation. However, others see time as their pressure and motivation for doing this.
I was watching a talk show last year. There was a 28 year old on the show who was considering using a sperm bank to conceive a child. Her main reason was that endometriosis and other female conditions ran in her family and several of her family members lost their ability to have children after a certain age. She was trying to beat the clock and have a child before it was too late.
Biologically speaking, women do not have all the time in the world to conceive a child. Women are considered high risk after age 35. Besides that, people who want to be parents must take a look into the future and think about where they want to be in the next several years. Who wants to be raising small children in their 50s?
What is a woman who wants a child supposed to do if there is no husband in sight? And what is a man who wants a child supposed to do if he can't find a partner? Becoming a mother or father is nothing to be taken lightly. There is a lot to consider.
