Chocolate is one of the tastiest desserts and snacks anyone can find. Seriously, who does not like chocolate? But the reality is anything tasty has seemed too fallen under the category of bad for our bodies.
However chocolate, whether just being defended by the chocolate-lovers or truth, has seen plenty of reasons why its healthy for you and why its not. Obviously known to be a tooth decay food, it's always been told to be used in small amounts, but in the recent years some new information has come up showing the benefits to be much better than originally anticipated.
Antioxidants have now been found to be linked to chocolate, by a naturally found compound called Flavonoids. These are compounds found in a variety of foods. Apples, peanuts, onions, red wines, teas all have this compound, but a type of favonoid called flavanol is found in cocoa and chocolate.
Chocolate has been linked to weight gain. However, studies are showing that because the fat in chocolate is partially made of oleic acid which has been found to be a neutralizing effect on cholesterol. While this may or may not be true, some people have found great results with this. But obviously there is still harmful fat in chocolate so you can't simply stuff your face with chocolate everyday and expect to not gain weight.
While its obvious that chocolate may be good for your body, it must be done with some common sense, don't expect to see life-altering effects from eating it, but also don't expect anything good from eating pounds of it every week. When done in small amounts it can be a great addition to your life, not only being tasty but helping you live a healthy life.
