Chlorine Water Filters - Do You Really Need One?
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Chlorine Water Filters are used every day by millions of people around the world. Many people receive a water quality report from their water company telling them that they have some of the best water available to them. The water that comes out of your tap looks clean, clear and might not smell or taste like anything in particular. There are many different contaminants and chemicals found in water supplies all over the U.S. The chemical I will be discussing today is Chlorine. Here is some information about chlorine that you may not know.

Water chlorination first began as a way to combat such deadly waterborne diseases as cholera and typhoid. The result of not using chlorine in our water would be outbreaks of water-borne disease like typhoid and cholera, as existed in the 1800s. Many countries that have relaxed chlorination standards have seen outbreaks of cholera and other diseases. For that reason it logically should serve it's purpose of keeping our water free from harmful bacteria and water borne diseases right up to the time of consumption, where it should then be removed by quality home filtration. The reason chlorine is used with such regularity (despite the growing numbers of chlorine-related diseases) is its relatively low cost as a water treatment method.

Council of Environmental Quality, "Cancer risk among people drinking chlorinated water is 93% higher than among those whose water does not contain chlorine. A recent report in the American Journal of Public Health linked chlorine to significant increases in certain types of cancer and stated that "up to 2/3s of the harmful exposure was due to skin absorption and inhalation while showering. Two decades after the start of chlorinating our drinking water the present epidemic of heart trouble and cancer began. A new statistical analysis indicates that people who drink chlorinated water run a 21 percent greater risk of bladder cancer and a 38 percent greater risk of rectal cancer than people who drink water with little or no chlorine. In the July AMERICAN JOURNAL OF PUBLIC HEALTH, the researchers suggest that at least 4,200 cases of bladder cancer and 6,500 cases of rectal cancer in the United States each year may trace to consumption of chlorinated water. Chlorine and its byproducts are now known causes of three of the most deadly types of cancer: bladder, rectal, and breast cancer.

Ideally, you would like for your water filter system to remove more than just chlorine and it's byproducts. 2 stage filters for drinking and showering are ideal for removing the bad from the water, and leaving in the good. Drinking water filters and shower water filters are essential for protecting you and your family from the from the potential health conditions that are caused by ingesting chemicals and contaminants or absorbing them through the skin.

Good day and good luck.
