One neighborhood that you should explore is the Cherokee Park neighborhood in the West of Trail area of Sarasota. This area is west of U.S. 41 and just south of the downtown area. It is an eclectic mix of homes surrounded by lush landscaping and large mature trees. One drive through this West of Trail area and Cherokee Park and you will understand why so many people want to live there.
Residents of Cherokee Park love the convenience of this neighborhood. They can leave their home and be walking in the sands of Siesta Key beach within about 10 minutes. Other nearby attractions include the shopping and restaurants of downtown Sarasota, Lido Key beach, Longboat Key, St. Armands Circle, numerous golf courses, Sarasota Memorial Hospital and other medical facilities, gyms, tennis courts and fabulous schools.
Cherokee Park is made up of 93 unique homes. This is the farthest thing from a "cookie cutter" neighborhood. Many of the older homes have been scraped to make way for newer homes. However, many of the older homes have been extensively remodeled to keep their original charm.
