Check Out the 2010 Dodge Nitro

Expert Author Ronnie W Tanner

The 2010 Dodge Nitro is a small SUV based on the same platform as the Jeep Liberty. The Dodge Nitro can be ordered with one of three engines: a 3.7L V6, 4.0L V6, or a 5.7L V8. The 3.7L V6 is a single overhead cam unit that utilizes a mulit-port fuel induction system. The engine is paired with a four speed automatic transmission, and can be optioned in either a two or all wheel drive format. The engine is capable of producing two hundred ten horsepower at five thousand two hundred revolutions per minute, and two hundred thirty-five horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute.

Fuel economy for the 3.7L V6 is sixteen miles per gallon in the city and twenty-two miles per gallon on the highway. The Nitro is able to accelerate from zero to sixty in nine and one-tenth seconds, and covered the quarter mile in seventeen seconds at a maximum speed of eighty-two miles per hour. Compared to the 3.7L V6, the optional 4.0L V6 produces 310 horsepower. The 5.7L V8 produces 390 horsepower, and returns fuel economy of thirteen miles per gallon in the city and eighteen miles per gallon on the highway. The Nitro comes standard with air conditioning, anti-lock brakes, an illuminated keyless remote control, and Sirius Satellite Radio for one year. Electronic stability control and curtain air bags also are standard on the Nitro. Standard safety features on the Nitro include traction control, a standard engine immobilizer, and driver and passenger air bags. The Nitro received five star crash ratings for driver front, passenger front, front side, and rear side crash tests. Drivers of the Nitro will be pleased with this car if only because of the safety ratings. However there are plenty of other things for Nitro drivers to love, not the least of which is the standard air conditioning, anitlock brakes, illuminated keyless remote control and Sirius Satellite radio. Though with these comforts those same drives will prefer highway driving because fuel economy rises to eighteen miles to the gallon compared to thirteen miles to the gallon for city driver.
