There are really no secrets when it comes to the characteristics of a healthy relationship and what applies to one couple does not necessarily apply to all. Every relationship is unique on its own way. In general, being in a relationship means being with someone you love and remember that it always takes two to tango.

Mutual Affection

No relationship will survive if only one party knows how to love and give. Mutual affection is one of the most important characteristics of a healthy relationship. And by giving or sharing, we do not only mean it is restricted to sharing of tangible items with your loved one. Telling your partner about your day and including him or her with the crucial decisions you make in your life is a way of showing that you care enough for him or her. Of course it's not a one-way street because your partner needs to do the same.

You Trust Each Other 100%

I can't tell you enough how important it is to fully trust each other. There's no such thing as fractional trust! It's either you trust your loved one completely or not at all. When you do not trust your partner, it prevents you from having a happy relationship. It's true when they say that trust needs to be earned and this is not really hard if you are always honest with your partner.

You Get Goofy Around Each Other

One of the characteristics of a healthy relationship is being able to have fun together. Build a strong friendship and you'll see that as you go along in the relationship, you get more comfortable around each other. Unless you can show your partner your "just-woke-up" face and your goofy, crazy side, you can never say that are comfortable with him or her. When a couple is silly together, it means that they aren't scared to let their guards down and expose their childlike sides.
