Reams and reams have already been written on the subject of Recession but what about the individual caught in the maelstrom of economic failure? We already know that something went drastically wrong with the thinking of a whole generation of so called experts. What we need though, when our own business or job is under threat, is not more analysis but real answers to our very specific and personal questions.
When the News seems to be all bad its very easy to get sucked into the vortex of despair! Bad news breeds negativity. We are dealing with very real problems and the very natural emotional turmoil some of us find ourselves in can make it increasingly difficult to come up with workable solutions.
Our questions are very simple: "What do I do now?" How can I protect myself, my family, my business, etc,.. When conventional thinking - 'the received wisdom' of our day has brought us to this place, what else is their?
"As A Man Thinks, So He Is"
How do we extricate ourselves from this mess - It seems, no business is safe and no job is secure? I know this is a Global phenomena and you may well be asking, why are these questions being posed in an article about Positive Attitude? How can that help?
Well, here's my thinking. Societal change - Global change begins with with creative thinking, when responsible individuals taking the initiative. The kind of faulty thinking and bad decisions that got us into this mess in the first place, has spread through our economic systems like a virus; a Global Pandemic.
Somebody once said, "If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got." Do we want more of the same? If not, since we got here by 'following the crowd, we will now have to 'dare to be different.' We'll have to dare to change our thinking in order to change our lives! Why not use an 'anti-vrus' and bring about change 'one life at a time.'
Think Your Way Out Of The Box
If you are feeling 'boxed in' by your circumstances, take the initiative, get off the 'merry-go-round' and differentiate yourself! Whether you are an employee, an employer, an entrepreneur or whatever you are, STOP! Stop what you are doing for long enough to think! Just by daring to be yourself, you can bring something new to the table. You can do something different. Think how you could facilitate change for those people in your 'circle of influence.' If you can do something that improves the lot of your employers, employees or clients you will become the 'go to person' in your area of expertise. You will be needed, your services will be 'in demand.' By improving the circumstances of those around you, you will, at the same time, automatically improve your own circumstances!
You Are A Unique Individual - Think About It
No two fingerprints are alike. No two personalities are alike. That is your strength and your value! Instead of 'following the herd,' take the time to think about and value your own 'uniqueness.' When you 'follow the herd' you repress what is uniquely you. Perhaps you have taken it to heart when friends or family have said to you, 'You can't do that.' Don't allow your uniqueness to be 'crowded out of your life.' Try reversing the process. Repress the 'herd instinct' instead. Just dare to be and dare to discover your true worth!
When 'you' value your gifts, your value and your experience, you may just discover a whole new life; a whole new future. As you develop this kind of thinking you will become more and more confident. Your influence will increase and like the explorers of another time you will be able to go beyond your current horizon without falling off the edge of your World. You will be able to 'chart new territory' where others can follow and learn their value too. 'You' could start a chain reaction! You could infect others with a 'good infection.' Your positive attitude may just prove to be contagious!
