Celestial Gems Within

Expert Author Sri Shunayta

The stars not only sparkle in the sky, they shine within you. They are the gems of your understanding and the jewels that reward your endeavors, enhance your charisma and beauty. These are the jewels that voyaged through time to adorn your body - like as the stars adorn the sky.

When I was just a you lad, my mother showed me how to make a wish on the first star I saw at night. She even gave me a rhyme that you may also know.

"Star light, star bright, First Star I've Seen Tonight. Wish I may, Wish I might, Wish My wish come true tonight".

Do you remember when you were small? Can you recall the amazement and wonder you felt, when you gazed upon those beautiful sparks of glittering light that filled the sky? Didn't it seem the stars were so close that you wanted to just reach up and touch them?

Over time I came to learn, as we all probably have, that the stars are not tiny at all, but are actually colossal orbs of heavenly fire. The Sun, our own private star, is so big that the earth could fit within it over million and half times. Even though it is the solar giant of it's own realm, our sun is but a tiny point of light when compared to some of the massive stellar beings in the galaxy.

Science has long sought to answer the questions that we entertained as a children. The roots of science reach back to the wise men of old, who studied the skies. Even with all we now know, the mystery of the stars and the heavens itself, can never completely be explained.

How can anyone ever imagine a big bang, when all of a sudden everything came barreling out of nothing? Fairy tales might be easier to imagine. You can actually envision a little winged cupid flying around shooting unsuspecting lovers with his arrows of infatuation and passion. But try to envision the universe appearing from a non-point of time and space!

Stars are not born equal, some sparkle vibrant red, others sapphire blue, and others again golden yellow or white. Like all elements of the periodic table, color is an important property of a star. Blue tells us that it's hot and orange and red, that it is relatively cool. The spectrum of color that a star emits and absorbs is the only way we can study it's properties an nature.

I think of gemstone as earth born stars. A relation does indeed exists between the stars of heaven and the precious gems of the Earth. Similar to their heavenly cousins the color of a gem is the result of an internal, micro-cosmic galaxy of atomic composition.

Few people realize that Ruby and Sapphire are actually the same stone. They are both specimens of corundum which is absolutely colorless. The different colors are the result of minute traces of other minerals.

The only reason that a Ruby is a Ruby, is because it is red, if it were any other color, blue, yellow, green and so on, it would be called a Sapphire. The red of a Ruby is due to microscopic traces of chromium and of the blue in Sapphires is produced by microscopic traces of iron and titanium.

Color has sense the earliest of times been seen as a symbol. We respond to music in obvious ways, when it is soft and melodious we relax into the rhythm. On the other hand, rock and roll, like a virtual pied piper gets us up on the dance floor.

The rich and lustrous world of colorful gems also has a direct influence on our body and emotions. Today gems are being used by Olympic athletes to increase their performance; by cosmetic companies to beautify our skin and therapeutically to heal some of our afflictions.

If it wasn't for quarts, we would have no television, no mobile phones and no computers. And if it wasn't for rubies and sapphires we would not have any lasers. We are not only in an information age, we are in a crystal age of gems and Zoein Jewels is proud to take part in this revolution.

About this Author

I left a modeling career in Paris and moved to Bali in 1987. I live next door to the Bali Hyatt and a couple minutes walk from the beach. Vacation is always on my door step. Well at least for every one else.

It has been over a quarter century that I have been writing and designing jewelry.

Even though it is sometimes like balancing two extremes, living to lives and having two full time jobs, I'm compelled, passionately inspired, to follow the muse.

One of the reasons I enjoy working with both jewels and the written word, is because they both will out last me, and endure to perennially blossom a new, carrying precious memories through countless generations.

The jewelry that I create is arguably the most documented in the world. It is show-cased at http://www.zoeinjewels.com

The several books I have written over the years are on subjects as varied as - linguistics, philosophy, poetry, religious symbolism, ancient tradition and even a children bedtime story. The problem is the ones that I have published, were only published in limited editions.

This is about to change! I am taking a semi-sabbatical from my jewelry business. I am still taking orders and making pieces for my most valued clients, but the greater portion of time is now devoted to finishing a book that I am writing on my favorite gem, Pearls and opening a publishing company to bring it out.
