Carpet is one of the best choices for floor covering (and oftentimes the least expensive) in many residential, remodel and commercial applications. It's available in many different styles, colors and textures and will add warmth and beauty to any room in the home or office. Some of the different types of carpet include Cable, Saxony, Texture, Frieze, Loop and Pattern. Each type of carpet is constructed differently to give it unique characteristics.

Cable

Cable style carpets are made with a "fat" yarn system and have a bold, chunky look that is extremely durable and functional in high traffic rooms such as a den or a family room. They also have a more "modern" look than some other styles.

Saxony

A Saxony carpet is a cut pile carpet with a smooth, level finish that has a rich, elegant look A Saxony is perfect for an area such as a formal dining room or living room. Keep in mind a Saxony carpet will tend to show footprints and vacuum marks more readily than other types of carpet.

Texture

The most popular type of carpet is the Texture style. It's popular because it fits any room in your house and it is easier to maintain because it doesn't show vacuum marks and footprints. If you are looking for a great carpet for any room then a Textured carpet will definitely do the trick.

Frieze

A Frieze is a carpet constructed with tightly twisted yarns. Friezes tend to wear very well even in high traffic areas. In general, the tighter the twist of any carpet, the more it will resist matting and crushing and the longer it will stay looking good.

Loop

A Loop carpet creates a very durable surface with a casual look. Loop carpets can be used residentially or commercially. A Berber is a kind of loop carpet you will often find in family rooms, offices and even kitchen areas. Loop carpets hold up exceptionally well and tend not to develop traffic patterns as readily as cut pile carpets can. A commercial level loop is the perfect choice for an office, lobby, reception area or waiting room.

Pattern

Pattern carpets are versatile and can have subtle or bold designs. They tend to be more formal and are often used in dining rooms, living rooms and master bedrooms. Pattern carpets can be cut pile, loop construction or a cut and loop combination.

No matter what type of carpet you choose, there will be a huge assortment of colors, textures, styles and price points to satisfy the needs and wants of even the most discriminating shopper. Carpet has been and will continue to be a tremendous value for all types of flooring applications.
