Basic Knowledge on Built-in Refrigerators

Overview

Built-in refrigerators are fast becoming an "in" thing especially among middle class to high-income earners because they are more concerned with the appearance with their kitchen because aside from the living room, kitchen has become a central part of the family living quarters.

Built-in refrigerators or cabinet-depth refrigerators are designed to blend well with the cabinetry or look as if they are built into the kitchen. They are usually available in white, black and stainless colors but a lot of models as features, which one can inset a panel that as the same texture and look as the cabinets into the front of the refrigerators to blend well with the look of the kitchen.

Types of Built-in refrigerators
There are three types of built-in refrigerators available in the market: bottom freezer, side by side and freezer less/freezer only. The most common is the side-b-side. At present, manufacturers don't always offer top-freezer built-in refrigerators.

The basic benefit of each refrigerators type is apparent when comparing it with another type. For instance, bottom freezer is more energy efficient than side-by-side model. There is however more side-by-side types offered in the market.

- These appliances have shallower depth than traditional refrigerators with the same height and width measurement. This means that the interior capacity is less compared to traditional refrigerators. Medium to large size families has to devote a lot of space for built-in refrigerators so that it holds enough items.
- The second downside is the steep price of this kind of refrigerator. Built-in refrigerators are still considered to be specialty items and these are priced higher than standards. Go now, it's only the affluent that can afford such items.

Benefits of having built-in refrigerators
- Flexibility in design. Cabinet-depth or built-in refrigerators offer Built-in or cabinet-depth refrigerators offer wide-ranged design flexibility. Some manufacturers offer combination of separate built-in refrigerator components to give households flexibility to customize their kitchen space.
- Built-in refrigerators are available everywhere appliances are sold and some can even source it online though it might be a good idea to actually see the unit before deciding whether to purchase or not.

- Ice makers and water dispensers are beneficial to those who frequently drink ice water. Some units have wine racks and snack trays. It would be wise or potential buyers to examine if features included because it would only be conveniences if it fits the family's lifestyle. It these features do not then they're just space huggers that raise the price of your refrigerators.
