A few months ago I went out and bought my self a digital camera. I really wanted to make certain, that I would have good photographs of my family. I especially wonted to capture our weekend excursions, since for to many years now I had kept such things undocumented. I was unsure which digital camera would be best for the kind of digital photography I would be doing, so I went to Best Buy and talked to a sales rep. He helped me go through all the different features and select the right digital camera for me.

If you are one of those people that love technology, the chances are you already have a digital camera. But there are a lot of people out there, just like me, which find making the switch from film photography to digital photography just a little bit difficult. In my case it's not because I don't value technology, I was just uncertain about the quality of a digital photo compared with a photo taken with my 35mm. So as soon as I got my digital camera home I started taking pictures.

One of my favourite features of the digital camera is the facility to review the digital images in the cameras screen, before saving them or printing them. It makes it possible to take a whole series of photographs and then look through them and delete all the bad ones, I never have to worrying about wasting film again. As for the quality of the images I have to say I was truly surprised, the photos actually look generally better than those taken with my old 35mm.

Digital Photography has come a long way in the last few years, and now most digital cameras come with loads of features, that probable most people like me would never or rarely use. That's why if you don't know what you want, it's imperative that you get a sales rep to explain all the different features of each camera you are looking at, so that you can properly determine what you need and which camera is best for you.

For example as I only intended to take pictures of my family I didn't have much of a need for a tremendous zoom. But on the other hand, since I would be taking photos nearly every day of the week, I was in need of a digital camera with a battery that would last for a long time. Just by talking to the sales rep at Best Buy I was able to find the camera that most suited my usage. Don't forget thou that once you have found a digital camera that suits you, you should go online and look up reviews on the camera, that way you can be truly sure that it is the right camera for you, don't take one sales rep's word for everything.
