Include the following 5 building blocks to gain optimum health.
GOOD NUTRITION: it is near impossible for your body to be healthy without eating right. Good nutrition includes clean fresh water, lean proteins (legumes, seafood, lean meats) whole grains, fresh vegetables and fruits. Given the nutritional quality of some foods nutritional supplements may be required. Avoid or mimimize processed sugars, white flours and rice and even cooked potatoes which may increase insulin production in the body and storage of fat. If you drink alcohol try to limit to no more than 2 drinks per day. More than this may negate the health benefits that some research has found. Though it is not a nutrition issue avoid smoking and one of the most harmful habits.
EXERCISE: think of exercise as aerobic, strength training and stretching. These three combined will keep you well rounded. Aerobic exercise is necessary for cardiovascular health and maintenance of weight. This includes walking. Strength training maintains the ability to do everyday tasks such as lifting, picking up children, gardening etc. It also keeps the muscles toned. Stretching helps ease of movement keeping the body young and supple. This is why Yoga & Pilates have become increasingly popular.
REST: Your body needs rest. Ninety percent of your body's repair happens while sleeping. It will help your immune system recharge. Mental health can be helped as well. Things like depression and anxiety may result from lack of sleep.
POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE: If you are always thinking negative or are fearful and worried or simply anxious about life in general you body may respond through sickness. Look for the good and bad out of each situation. This helps us get stronger for the next life experience that comes our way.
PROPER FUNCTIONING NERVOUS SYSTEM: The nervous system is the master control system of the body. This allows the brain to communicate to the body. This is where chiropractic has played a huge role in my life. When life's circumstances pass us by from trauma, stress and injuries they can hinder the nervous system. This may lead to pain and symptoms anywhere in the body. Removing the interferences gets the body on track to functioning optimally. Check these topics each day...make the changes you need to and enjoy the life you live....Until next time...
