There are many things to consider when breeding poodles and here are some tips which will ensure that breeding will be made easier for you. Poodles are a breed of dog which is considered to be lovable and highly intelligent. In addition, perhaps one of the best characteristics of poodles is that they don't shed.
The dogs history should be checked thoroughly when considering breeding these dogs. It is imperative that you have information regarding the background and bloodline of the dog, in order to make sure that there are no hereditary diseases or deformities that would surface in the pups. Therefore when you are considering breeding poodles, both the parent dogs should have clear record and characteristics that you would expect to appear in the pups.
Always ask for a health certificate as a good breeder would be able to supply you all the necessary information. It is always better to educate yourself when it comes to breeding poodles so that you will know all the pros and cons involved and also what to expect.
Make sure that you examine the poodle properly. The neck of a good poodle would be long and strong and will be carried in almost in a noble manner. Check that the poodle has muscular shoulders and also that it has a long and straight muzzle. Fur of the poodle is the other thing that should be checked and you must make sure that the coat of the poodle is thick, curly and won't shed.
As poodles are one of the most expensive and valuable breed of dogs, you must ensure that both the parents are thoroughly checked. When breeding poodles it is best to get the dam examined by a vet for infections or any diseases and also ensure that she has been given all her shots at least two weeks prior to breeding. Another thing to consider is that some poodles have genetic flaws which in turn lead to medical conditions. Therefore it is better to avoid continuing the line of these poodles.
When breeding poodles, whether you are doing it for a profit or for the love of the breed, you should ensure that the pups will receive loving caring homes where they will be taken care with lots of much needed love and attention.
