Breeding Betta Fish - Some Tips for Success

Betta fish which are also known as Siamese fighting Fish, are a popular type of fish. Basically most countries and houses who have pet fish have some Siamese fighting Fish. They have vibrant colours and are very active which is what makes them a popular choice for homeowners. As the name suggests they like to fight so having two in the same fish tank is not a good idea. They will usually fight to the death.

Here are some tips you can use when taking care of Siamese fighting Fish -

1- You can use a turkey baster as a tool for cleaning out any tiny particles of food that hasn't been eating, or the debris that is at the bottom of the bowl. If you let the debris remain at the bottom of the bowl, this will make the water cloudy and unsanitary which will usually give off a bad smell.

2- When testing the PH of your tank, it should be 7.0. To test the PH you need to get your hands on a PH testing kit, which you can get at any pet store. They will also give you tips on how to increase or decrease the PH of your water.

3- If you have any decorations in your bowl, such as plants or rocks you should never clean them using soap. The reason for this is that it can be very hard to rinse soap out properly, the soap residue can actually harm and even kill Betta fish also. So this is something to consider, you should use an abrasive brush and some warm water when cleaning.

4- You need to keep your fish tank covered, if not a Betta fish will actually jump. You don't want your finned friend to end up on the tabletop flopping! Keeping the water in the tank at least 2 inches away from the top of the bowl can also help stop this problem.

Siamese fighting Fish are a vibrant fish, and are a great choice for anybody that wants fish to take care of. Considering the tips above, will provide your fish with a longer lifespan and give you a more enjoyable experience with them.
