In today's society the underage drinking has been on the rise and is showing no signs of slowing down. There have been many instances in high schools where students are coming to school events with alcohol on their breath.
This is definitely a problem that needs to get taken care of because it's only going to get worse until schools decide to do mandatory alcohol breath tests before they enter the events. Many parents would agree that this action needs to be taken, but some are strongly against it.
Those against it are the parents that are the ones that believe that their high school kid doesn't even drink alcohol. Nowadays the majority of kids in high school have consumed alcohol or are regular users of alcohol on a weekly basis.
So how would the use of breathalyzers stop this problem?
By using a breathalyzer at the entrance of a school event it would make the gatherings more safe and alcohol free. Also the kids would figure out that they couldn't get away with it and come to the function or just not even come at all. Not only would this make the functions more safe, but it would also benefit the community by giving the school a good reputation. Overall, this issue is already of a big concern and it is growing even more, teens are going to continue to drink and will continue to drink before school gatherings. I feel high schools around the country need to take a stand and require mandatory breathalyzer tests to the students before this certain problem becomes a major concern across the country.
