Breast Augmentation - Here Are the Possible Complications
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Breast augmentation is a surgery that has become incredibly common. Many women see it as a way to fix their bodies and to gain self-confidence. Both of these things can happen. But it is important not to rush in to any decision without assessing all the risk involved. Talking with your doctor and doing research on your own will help make you aware of the risk involved and how to avoid that risk.

Getting breast implants is something many women do for a variety of reasons. Whatever those reasons may be, it is important to not be dazed by the fantasy of having perfect breasts and to know the risks about the surgery.

With any surgery there is risk of adverse anesthesia reactions. It is important to disclose everything to your doctor so that you can be given the correct anesthesia and medication after surgery. Infection after the procedure is also a risk, as with any surgery. It is important to take all the steps you're supposed to and to explicitly follow your post operation instructions to avoid infection or possible rejection. With breast implants in particular, there are a couple of problems to look out for.

There is something called bottoming out. This is when the implant rides too low in your tissues and makes your nipples point upward. This isn't too common, but it can happen.

There is also something called capsular contraction. This is when your body creates a sort of capsule around the implant (which a body may do with any foreign object) and starts to make it appear misshapen. The capsule that is formed can close entirely around and can then squeeze your new implants until they no longer look normal. Too much squeezing could possibly have a medical affect, although there haven't been confirmed cases.

Symmastia is another risk. This is when the breasts appear too closely together. Often times this is the result of having implants that were too large put in to your body. This can only be fixed with surgery and, post-operation with support bras and bandages.

If you get gel implants, a thing called gel bleed is possible as well. This is when the gel inside of the implant leaks through the outer casing. This can be fixed by sticking with saline and by discussing everything with your doctor.

One other thing to look out for is how you're doing mentally. Too many women think this procedure is a fix-all, some sort of magic cure to their self-esteem or problems in life. When they get the augmentation, many are surprised that their problems still exist.

All of these things can be reduced and even eliminated by taking the step to make sure that your doctor or surgeon is a good one with lots of experience and up to date licenses and certifications. Breast augmentation can be a wonderful thing for many women, as long as they do the necessary research and go in to it wisely.

In Mobile, breast augmentation procedure helps you get larger and shapelier breasts. Get a more positive self-image and a better self-esteem. To know more, visit http://www.easternshoreplasticsurgery.com
