Worry is a circular negative thinking pattern that goes around and around in your head. It's like getting stuck inside of a whirlpool that's full of muck. You're moving through your day, something you don't like happens, and all of a sudden a powerful whirlpool begins to suck you down into this negative thinking pattern.
The problem is that worry is a focus on problems instead of on solutions. You need to interrupt the problem focused pattern. This is crucial! You must INTERRUPT the worry thinking cycle.
For instance, imagine that you've had a disagreement with someone you are close to, and you're worried about getting through it. So you might be thinking, "Are they going to be upset with me? I don't know, maybe."
"I said this, and I really shouldn't have blown up at them like that. I wonder if they'll get over it? Maybe not. If they don't, then we're not going to be able to spend time together, and go to the theatre later. And if we don't get past this, then who am I going to spend time with?" And it goes on and on. It's a negative circular thinking process. It pulls you off your game. It takes away your ability to be resilient.
To break out of this, you need to interrupt the pattern. The easiest and fastest way to do this is to write your thoughts on paper. Get it out of your head where you can see it.
For instance, if you have something you're worried about, then write down all the things that you can do to overcome it. Think about the upsetting parts of the problem and write those down too. Look at both sides, but focus mostly on the solutions and what you can do to break out if it. This makes any issue significantly easier to work with. Why? Because 1) you get it out of your head, and 2) you are brainstorming solutions instead of just pondering the problem over and over!
Writing it where you can see it, changes your perspective. Your mind does not wander off into the negatives only. Why? Because you can look at the negative, you can look at the positive; you can see what you can do. It gives you the opportunity to balance a bit of both. You begin to take control of your run away mind.
The human mind has a natural tendency to wander down the dark path. You don't have to do that. Your negative thinking, your negative self-talk, worrisome thoughts, anxious thoughts, can ruin your mental and physical health. So you need to take care of your thoughts. Begin doing this today and you can begin building yourself a mental edge.
Yes you do have to think about problems when they come up, but if that's all you are thinking then you are stuck in the problem. You need to begin to focus on the solution, and by switching to a solution focus, you'll begin to take control in a new way.
Do you want your life to be more effective? Do you want to have better health? Do you want to have people around you that are thriving, the excited, passionate people who are also moving into a better and better life? Then you need to be one of them. You can get control over your mind and move yourself in a direction you want.
Negative self-talk and worry thinking can destroy your desire to achieve. Mental power and positive attitudes are all the result of your choice of focus, so focus on the positive and detach from the negative. Focus on the solution, not on the problem. Tackle it now; and you can have what you desire.
