Boston Terrier - Things to Consider Before Buying a Dog
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Dogs have long been seen as a man's best friend and there is good reason for this overview of our canine counterparts. Boston Terriers are no exception to this rule. They have been highly bred as a companion dog and they boast both a friendly and strong character. Like many canine breeds, Boston Terriers are always out to please their owners, they have been proven to be fairly easy to train and have a higher than normal intelligence.

Please be aware Boston Terriers are a fairly demanding breed of dog to own. They crave a lot of attention and are known to have a lot of energy. Boston's are also known to be very inquisitive dogs, this can lead to problems such as escaping and also whilst walking off the lead. They are a fairly easy dog to maintain, being small in a size and having a short coat help to keep the dog clean and tidy. Be aware that Boston Terriers are well known to be sensitive to temperature, extra care should taken when exercising the dog in heat. The same rules also apply to the winter months, some examples of the breed seem to cope with extremes such as snow fairly well where as others do not.

Overall Boston's are a very bright and bouncy breed that should not pose too many problems to the owners. It should be noted however that due to their own intelligence they do not always respond well to typical dog training methods such as being scolded.
