A lot of people find it difficult to fix common laminator problems, where they end up with low quality lamination. This is not new to first timers and even experienced people who have been laminating different materials for a long time. Actually, there are simple and helpful tips on how to achieve a perfect lamination. I have been looking for solutions for so long. I would like to share to you what I have found, which are really the best I know.
There will cases that the output appears to be cloudy even if it has gone through the laminator. Laminating sheets appear to be a bit cloudy when it has not gone through the heating and sealing process. This is before the adhesive will become clear after the heating process. If the output still looks cloudy even after you let it through the laminating machine, the machine might not set up to the right temperature for the type of laminating sheet you are using. To solve the problem, you need to adjust the temperature according to the type and thickness of the laminating film. For reference, check the manual for correct temperature adjustment. Then, run the material into the machine again. On cases that your machine does not have the dial to adjust the temperature, the film you are using might be too thick. For this, you need to feed again the material or check the manual for other solution.
If the edges are not sealing and bubbles occur, you might have set the temperature wrong. Inadequate heat will not seal the film and bubbles will appear. Therefore, you need to adjust the temperature a bit and run again the material into the plastic pouch laminator. For laminating photographs, there are cases that the film you use does not fit the picture that uses quality ink. This can only be fixed through using the right laminator designed for photographs.
Further, the output will look wavy if you adjusted the temperature into a very high level. So, you need to adjust the dial into a lower temperature and feed the material again into the machine until the ripples are gone. Sometimes, ripples will appear if you are using a very thing laminating film. A carrier or pouch can help if you are using a thin laminating sheet.
Therefore, it is really important that you adjust the temperature correctly of your hot laminator. Too much heat from the machine will also cause the adhesive of the sheet to squeeze out. Squeezing adhesive can also cause the jam of the machine. That is why; initial testing is need for the type of film you use. So, adjust the temperature at certain level and feed a sample into the machine. Do this for several times until it is assured that adhesive does not squeeze out.
There are sheets that are too big for the material you are going to laminate, especially if you only have an A4 laminating pouches. Be reminded that trimming of hot laminating pouch film shall be done after the lamination. This is because, trimming the film before the lamination will cause the jam and may result to poor quality.
