Out of all of the hair types out there curly is by far the hardest to deal with, because they require constant attention and everyone's curls are slightly different and need to be managed as such. So here is a big heads up, if you have curls you have to tend to them daily or they will look like a hot mess. So here are a few ways to get the best hair treatment for your curly hair.
Curls do NOT need washed every day. This will dry your hair and scalp out and can cause tangles out the wazoo. Wash your hair every few days to keep the balance right. Even though you do not need to wash daily you do need to conditioner daily with a leave in conditioner or an oil. Don't use the same shampoo and conditioner for long periods of time. You always want to switch you shampoo and conditioner every few months. Also at least once a month use a clarifying shampoo to rinse all of the product build up out of your curls. The build up can cause flat dull looking curls. When drying your hair with a towel be gentle this will keep the spring in your curls do not just rub it all over your head, this will cause tangles and flat hair.
- You don't need to wash curly hair daily
- A conditioning treatment will help a lot
- Use a clarifying shampoo to knock out product build up
Let your hair dry naturally at least once a week, and when using a blow dryer you have to use a diffuser to keep from frying your curls. Look for a leave in treatment for curls that helps keep your hair moisturized without weighing it down. I use argan oil and I love it. Look for a conditioner that helps you retain moisture with out building up or making your hair heavy. Finally when choosing curling tools don't use a curling iron any larger than an inch. You want defined curls not just wavy hair. This will help keep your curls outlined and perfect.
