Have you ever wondered what makes the best bass lures the best? What in the world makes one bass fishing lure better than all the others? There are obviously many things that make the best lures the best, more than can be listed in a single article, but what can be listed are the 3 things that the best bass lures have in common.

In my twenty plus years of fishing experience I've found that any quality bass fishing lure has these 3 things in common. Bass lures can be quite expensive, so making informed decisions is of the utmost importance. The last thing any of us want to do is waste our hard earned money, so make sure that the next time you purchase a bass fishing lure, it has these qualities.

These qualities are being listed in no particular order. They are all equally important in my opinion.

  1. Craftsmanship - Quality craftsmanship is of the utmost importance when you're talking about the best fishing lures. There are many manufacturers that make quality bass lures. The most well known for quality craftsmanship is Rapala. Rapala makes very high quality fishing lures. Another company that makes quality bass fishing lures is a Japanese company called Yo-Zuri.
  2. Sharp Hooks - To be honest most quality bass fishing lures are equipped with sharp hooks but as bass are caught they become dulled. This results in missed bass and it doesn't have to. Carrying a hook sharpener with your while bass fishing is always a great idea. This way you can easily make sure that your hooks are always razor sharp. The best bass lures always have extremely sharp hooks.
  3. Realism - The more realistic your fishing lures are, the more effective they will be. This simply means that whatever fishing lure you're using looks as realistic as possible to the bass. The best bass lures are always as realistic as possible. Realism is something all of the best bass lures have in common. The bottom line is that you want your lure to look as much like a real bait fish (or other bait) as is possible.
The best bass lures, no matter who makes them, have these three simple things in common. As long as your bass fishing lures have these three simple factors in common they should be effective. The only other thing you need is time to spend on the water learning all the nuances of your specific bass fishing lure.
