Nobody can question Pliny the Elder who said that 'Nothing Greens Greener'. Since his inspiration lay within the magic created by chromium and vanadium present in emerald, which produces its vibrant color. Moreover, there is a stronger reason behind this praiseworthy statement quoted by this Roman naturalist and natural philosopher. This vitreous luster crystal is intensely rich in its green shade with hints of blue and is stable against light and heat and so does not fades.

The vibrant colored stone derives its name from Latin smaragdus through via Greek smaragdos. This fascinating green has been alluring man since the age of kings and queens. Till today, it has same hype as before, from the rich, celebrities, to not so rich. Brazilian emeralds are a little lighter in shade as compared to other emeralds found. These contain a yellow hint as compared to Colombian ones. Mostly free of inclusions, these emeralds are slightly cloudy in appearance.
