Pets, mail, security, yard maintenance....everything you would normally do when you are at home. Do you want to feel like all the stress of daily home care is resolved before leaving so you can have a stress free and relaxing vacation? Maybe this article will help relieve some of that post vacation stress.

Seeing you are working harder and probably longer than you have ever did before. This may place a higher premium on your vacation time. Preparing for, going on and coming back from a vacation can prove just as tiring and chaotic than just staying home.

Haven't you earned the time off? Shouldn't you enjoy it? Whether you're going to the Caribbean, for a week or visiting family over the weekend, the key is to plan ahead. Once you have everything covered and organized, there's nothing left to do but to have enjoy yourself and have fun. Here are some things to consider when planning your vacation.

Make sure everything at home is in order so returning home is more enjoyable. Don't you think that going away on vacation should be relaxing, so when you get home from your vacation you won't immediately be stressed out again due to poor planning?

1. Do you have pets that you need to arrange care for? Do some research on pet care in your area.

2. Pay your bills, whether utilities, credit cards, house or car payment if they will be due during your absence.

3. Have your deliveries or mail held. Either have them deliver it or pick it up on your return.

4. Remope all the trash out of you kitchen, bathrooms or where ever you have trash cans then take them to the curb, nothing worse that that garbage smell when you return home.

5. Wash all your dirty clothes and make sure the washer and dryer are empty, nothing worse than that sour clothes smell.

6. Clean out your refrigerator of anything that will not be edible upon your return.

7. Arrange yard care, if you have indoor plants make sure to arrange for them to be taken care of.

8. Have someone come check on your home once in awhile or contact your local authorities/security provider and let them know when you will be gone.

9. Leave on outdoor lighting if you have flood light that have sensors on them.

10 Check your outdoor sprinkler settings.

11 If you trust your neighbors leave an phone number's where you can be reached, let other family member's not living with you know of your plans and how to be reached.

12 Arrange transportation to and from the airport if needed.

13 Get a will done from an attorney.

14 Get all your travel itineraries, tickets, passports, cashier checks, immunization information together ahead of time and keep them all together

15 Make a checklist of items to pack including clothing, electronic equipment, foreign power converter's, personal hygiene, sunglasses, extra film, batteries, charger's, medication...

16 Make sure you have enough prescription medication to get you through you vacation plus a few days extra

17 Maps, tour information brochures of the place you are vacationing

18 Check the weather of your destination

19 Check to make sure all your flights are on time, done within 24 hours of schedule.

If you are going on vacation in your car, here are some helpful suggestions. When planning a trip, it's always a good idea to give the car a good cleaning out first. Make sure you car is ready for the trip because nothing ruins a vacation like having to call a tow truck or waiting around for your car to be repaired instead of spending your day at the beach. Be sure to get your oil changed, have all the hoses and filters checked and replaced if necessary, check your tire pressure and replace any tires that are too worn. You'll also definitely want to make sure the radiator is flushed and ready for summer heat. Stock your glovebox with a few first aid and comfort items, such as sunblock, aspirin or Tylenol for headaches, sunburn lotion and antihistimine sprays or lotions for soothing bug bites, a roll of antacids, some Pepto-Bismal for tummy troubles, a few cough drops, and a package of Bandaids. There are lots of different travel-sized first aid kits that you an always stow in the glove box or in the trunk and sometimes that's just the easier way to go. A small sewing kit often makes sense too for any broken swimsuit straps and a pair of tweezers come in handy for dealing with splinters.

Also, make sure you have a map or atlas and a place to keep it handy. If you're travelling the interstate, stop into the tourist information center on your way and pick up some brochures for fun things to do near your destination. And you never know, it could rain! So check the weather of your destination

As far as safety on your vacation, It is often when we are out to enjoy ourselves on vacation that we are more likely to experience events which can affect how much we enjoy our. Problems occur from time to time, but if you can prevent them in the first place, travel can be a less stressful experience. At the extreme end you may have to spend time at the local Police station giving statements and filling out reports. Your common sense is still the most trusted method of traveling safely so whether you are just walking down a street or dining out, if you feel a situation does not feel right then act accordingly.

People often neglect to trust their instincts in a situation which can lead them into unnecessary trouble. Always be careful about traveling with all your documents and money. Just take what you need for the time you will be away and place anything that is valuable in the hotel safe. A handy tip is to place a small amount of money in a number of locations like bags or pockets then if you happen to lose a bag, visa card or money, you will still have something there to keep you going until it can be resolved.

The convenience of having two credit cards on the same account in your own country can be a problem in a foreign land so another travel safely tip is to use two completely separate accounts; this provides a back-up should one be lost or stolen. For some time now, thieves have been perfecting the art of snatching handbags and cameras on straps over the shoulder; but by placing the strap over the head and laying it across the chest, this is much harder to do without cutting the strap. Try to be aware of where you are when you stroll around and don't make an easy target for the snatch thieves on the back of bikes. We have all read about the different scams that people have fallen for and the truth is people continue to fall for them because the scammers are professionals and they're good at it.

The truth is we always believe it won't happen to us because we are too streetwise but it is that arrogance that gets us caught out and these individuals do this every day. If you carry a bag of any kind, buy yourself a small padlock or combination lock as the few dollars you spend will be well worth it as it will deter the majority of sneak thieves. Another good idea is to use a hikers (or climbers) small shackle that can be used to safely secure your keys to a belt or bag for those people that frequently lose their keys. Probably the most common theft is that of a guy's wallet from his back pocket so try placing it somewhere else on your body that will be hard to find and steal from.

The majority of problems could be avoided. We all let our guard down, and it is common on vacation; if you can remember to travel safely, it won't halt your enjoyment but could stop many unwanted events from happening.

Shopping ahead for your trip. Get prepared and take the right clothes for your vacation. If you are planning to go in a month or six months from now, now is the time to prepare for it. Whether it is clothes, tickets, hotels, vacation homes or car rentals you need to plan ahead to get the best bang for your dollar. You have worked hard and you deserve a peaceful and relaxing vacation.
