The television, the film stars from Hollywood, the singers and the models from the catwalk have imposed a super slim, unnatural silhouette. Most of teenagers' and youngsters' idols are well known for their starving diets and the efforts they make to remain slim. These stories are taken as such by the normal people, who set themselves unrealistic standards.

This is why, before you go on a diet, you should ask yourself twice if your attempt has any realistic basis and if you really need to lose some pounds. If you answer is still yes, then you should go to your doctor or to a nutritionist which will tell you whether you are wrong or right.

The body weight is not just fat. To establish the right weight you should have, the doctor takes into account several factors, such as your age, your body conformation and the muscular mass. Many times, there is no problem with the weight, but with the muscular mass, which is diminished. This means that instead of starving yourself, you should do some physical exercises which will strengthen your muscles and will reshape your body.

When doing regular exercises your body weight may increase because the muscular mass will increase. Yet, you will lose several inches from your waist and your body will look better because you muscles will be nicely contoured and your skin will be firmer.

If you really need to go on a diet, the nutritionist should be the one to tell what and how much should you eat. If you are on a diet that was not approved by a doctor you can risk your health. There are a lot of people who have had troubles with their health after being on a diet, so this is an aspect you should take into consideration when thinking about losing weight.

Being sexy and attractive does not mean fitting in size 0 clothes, but have a healthy and good-looking appearance. So, before deciding that you will not eat anymore, you should pay a visit to your doctor or to a nutritionist and ask for a professional advice. It will be something you will thank yourself for later.
