Buying into the gimmicks and spending outrageous money on expensive balls, and clubs just doesn't make sense. Going out and taking golf lessons will not only cost you hundreds of dollars but it will also eat up a lot of your time.

Let's save the money, and spend the time on the course, improving your actual game. If this is what you are looking for, continue on reading my Three Essential Tips to Better Golf Scores.

It's All In Your Head

Arguably the mental aspect of golf is just as important as your swing. If you ask any golf pro, or instructor they will tell you that if you are not mentally prepared your score will suffer. When you get to the course clear your mind of any outside stress, leave it in the car as soon as you park. Prior to every round you should be spending a little time on the range and putting greens. This is a good time to get mentally prepared for your round. Remember the good swings, and what you are doing right. Correct the things you are doing wrong prior to going out on the course. Most importantly when you make a bad swing or have a bad hole leave it behind you. It's amazing how a bad swing or hole can snowball into a bad front nine or the entire round. Another important thing to remember here is consistency, you need to be solid off the tee, have a grasp at your approach shots, and be good around the greens as well putting. Putting all of these in sequence takes great mental challenge.

It's All In Your Body

Golf is a very strenuous activity. Some people may not believe this but a 7200yd golf course is just over 4 miles in length. This does not include the distance between holes, nor walking between errant shots. Swinging a club 80-120 times a round is also very strenuous on your body. It is important as I mentioned in the first tip that you're prepared both prior to practice as well playing. You should be stretching and going for a light walk prior to time on the range and before playing. You should be stretching out you arms, shoulders, abs, back and legs. Working on your swing on the range will also loosen up your body and gets the blood flowing. Having a strong mind and a strong body is essential if you want to be a great golfer.

It's All in Your Swing

Obviously in order to be a great golfer you have to have a good swing. Breaking 100, 90, or even 80 is possible using these three tips that I have provided. Once you have the Mind and Body prepared. It's time to work on your swing. What swing is most important many ask? It is my opinion that the drive is just as important as the putt. Some would say that your approach shots, pitching and chipping are the areas of the game that will save you the most strokes. I think that they are all equally important. And there are three things you need to remember. 1. Practice makes perfect. Spend the same amount of time on each aspect of your swing. 2. Harder is NOT better. Maybe it is in some aspects of life, but in golf you want a smooth even swing with the same motion every time. The harder you try to hit the ball the worse off your shot will be. 3. Use the right clubs for the appropriate situation, ensure you're using proper alignment, and have the same address for every shot. Focus on where you want your ball to go.

Conclusion

If you ensure that you are well prepared in all three of the above tips that I have provided. I guarantee that you will play better golf. Just using these three tips will not only make you a better golfer, but you will also be able to save time and money as there are not costs involved with proper preparation. As I stated practice makes perfect, you can practice chipping in your back yard, you can go to an open field and practice your long irons or woods. You do not need to spend money on practice, nor your body/mental. I wish you well on the course, enjoy yourself may all your putts be one putts.
