Be Good to Yourself Challenge Day

Expert Author Lynn Banis

When was the last time you were truly good to yourself? When did you spend a whole day thinking about you and what you needed to re-energize your batteries and feed your soul? You may not be able to take a whole day for yourself but here are some things you can do to engage in extreme self care - you deserve it and you deserve to do it often. Maybe you can take some of these things and make them a part of your daily routine. They will help you feel cared for and good about yourself.

  1. Start your day by being grateful for all that you have and all that the day is going to bring to you. Write in your journal or on a pad of paper if you do not have a journal. (It may be something you want to get for the future so you can keep a gratitude journal for yourself.)
  2. Plan and eat three to six healthy meals for yourself today. Be sure they are balanced and designed to give you nourishment and energy.
  3. Spend a few extra minutes grooming. Make yourself look especially good today. Wear bright colors - they tend to boost our spirits.
  4. Take a few minutes to check in with friends and family. They tend to make us happy and will give your day an extra boost. Be sure your support system is strong and in place.
  5. Do something nice for someone else. It will make you feel good about yourself too as long as you do it from your heart and out of sincerity.
  6. Take a mini-mind vacation. Imagine you are somewhere you really love and spend a few minutes there. Imagine it in all of its glory - sounds, smells, feelings, etc. Make it as real as you can and capture the joy and relaxation you feel when you are there. When you are done imagining bring all of those wonderful feelings back into your day with you. Refreshing, isn't it?
  7. Do something special for yourself. It does not have to cost money or be expensive just do something out of the ordinary and enjoy every minute of it.
  8. Take some time to get some exercise. It can be anything even a short walk. Just get your body moving and notice how great it makes you feel.
  9. Write a love note for someone - it can even be to yourself. Let them know how much you care and how important they are in your life.
  10. Take time at the end of the day to reflect. Think about what you have to give to the world and how much you enjoy doing that. Then plan your next Be Good To Yourself Challenge Day.
