Getting new computer equipment may be a complicated decision to make when you have little knowledge about computers. You do not need to buy state of the art computer equipment if your business tasks do not require any special software. We want to give you some information about the three main elements that you will find in any computer equipment.

The processor. Intel and AMD are the world leaders in processors and the ones that you will find in most computers. The bigger the processor, the more complex applications it can handle. If you are looking for computer hardware for your business, you only need one with standard performance. There are processors with two or four cores.

RAM: it is what most people call the "memory" of the computer equipment. It is an important factor when it comes to the speed of your computer. To install Windows a minimum of 512 MB or 1 GB is recommended in order to retain some regular speed of usage. Windows Vista and some heavy applications may demand 2 GB of RAM or more. Whether for a PC or laptop, you can add RAM easily without the intervention of a technician.

The Hard Disk. This is the part of the hardware of your computer equipment that will provide storage capacity. The bigger the hard drive, the more information you can store in your PC. All programs you install to your computer will use space. Windows will take up to 20 GB of your hard disk. A 120 GB hard drive will give you more than enough space for your regular office work. You can also use external hard drives or disks to liberate space from your PC. It is always recommended to perform regular data backups to avoid any loss of information.

The CD or DVD recorder. DVD recorders now come standard in most computers and are generally affordable. When you buy your computer equipment make sure it plays all kinds of DVD's. There are DVD recorders that support multi layer recording. This technology requires the use of special DVD's that must also be multi layer.
