The body of the BMW M1 was built on the multi tube spaceframe structure with fiberglass. The suspension to the car includes an independent front and rear control arm with shock absorbers, anti roll bars and co-axial coil springs. The other features in the sports luxury car include all wheel ventilated discs, pressure and booster limiter on rear axle, dual hydraulic circuits, unassisted rack and pinion steering wheel and cast alloy wheels.
The power to the vehicle comes from a 3.5 liter Inline-6 engine that produces power up to 277 bhp at an angular speed of 6500 rpm and torque of 243 lb ft at an angular speed of 5000 rpm. The mid mounted engine has cast iron block and the vehicle is offered in rear wheel drive and it has four valves per cylinder and dual overhead camshaft. The engine in the BMW M1 has bore size of 93.4 mm and stroke of 84 mm. The engine is mated to a standard five-speed manual transmission.
With the powerful engine the vehicle can achieve maximum speed of 262 kilo meters per hour and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilo meters per hour in a time span of just 5.6 seconds. Apart from the powerful I-6 engine, it is also featured with all the safety and entertainment features.
The sports car, BMW M1 model won Group B championship in the model year 1984. The model also stood in top ten lists of sports cars.
