The title of your article is the most important element because people won't read past if it is boring and doesn't get straight to the point.  If they won't read the article then they obvious will never click through to see your site.

Now I have seen 4 types of title that do well in just about every market that you write content in.  These are the only four but the are arguably the best.

1.  Use Numbers

There is just something about using a number that always catches your attention.  When it comes to an article, it is a promise of getting some concise information (4 tips) or getting something done over a specific time frame (21 days to a habit).  There are others but these are the most common.

2.  How To's

Imagine yourself being the Rachel Ray of Ty Pennington of your niche.  You would give people tons of advice on how to do stuff.  Think of how many "how to" tv shows and websites exist today; ever ask why?  

3.  Avoidance

Avoidance styled titled are great because people tend to do things to avoid some sort of pain.  If you can give them a roadmap on how to do that, they will thank you for it.

4.  Secrets Revealed

These can be funny at times but it capitalizes on the idea that we all like to learn about things we were "supposed" to know.  As if there were some secret society of people in your market that you discovered withholding information from the masses.  It is now your responsibility to show the world!  You'd tell me the secrets wouldn't you?

Now these can all be combined into super titles and you will naturally do just that. Now this isn't a complete list of titles that will increase the viewership of your articles but it's enough to get started with.
