Part of building a list is getting traffic to your offer, blog, or website. There are a thousand ways in which to do this. A few of which are:
1. Article marketing
2. Email marketing
3. Having a blog that people want to come to
4. Commenting on others blogs
5. Commenting on questions such as Yahoo answers
6. Linking with other sites
7. Commenting on forums
8. Advertising an offer
There are many more ways to obtain traffic in which I could write an entire book about, but today I want to focus on just the first one - Article Marketing.
Lately I have spoken with many people who believe article marketing is dead. They say they've "tried" it and it didn't work. As with all things I tell them "It didn't work for YOU."
Article marketing is very much alive. Many people make all of their income from the traffic brought to them by articles. These get placed on a massive database with millions of other articles and other people can pick them out and use them on their websites, which automatically gives you a link back to you website.
Sounds great, right?
Well there's a trick to it and it's the reason so many people don't think article marketing works.
It's a secret that I'm going to tell you.
Ready?
There are people reading these articles!
Yes, that's right. That's the entire secret. If people find your article boring, filled with nothing but hot air, or completely useless they'll stop reading and they certainly aren't going to share it.
Which means for article marketing to succeed you have to actually know how to talk to people through the written word. This really isn't that difficult. You talk to people every day, you even help them out. Just write as if the person you're talking to is an old friend. When you write like the person reading is a friend they sense it and give more of their time to you, are more willing to pass on your article, and even read other articles you've written.
When you first start, getting your article just right can be difficult, but like with everything else practice makes perfect. When I first started it took me an hour and a half to write 1 article. Yes, I said ONE, and I'd been writing for years before that. I knew how to put words together, but the ideas for writing an article just refused to come. I've been at it for quite some time now, and on a slow day when the words aren't flowing it generally takes about 20 minutes. Quite a difference, right?
Once your articles are written you have to submit them to someplace for them to be seen. The top ten article submission places are:
1. knol.Google
2. eHow
3. EzineArticles
4. Squidoo
5. HubPages
6. ArticlesBase
7. Examiner
8. Technorati
9. Buzzle
10. AssociatedContent
Writing articles isn't difficult and they can help to massively build your list and increase traffic.
