It's unbelievable that we have arsenic drinking water. The presence of arsenic in water is dangerous to our health.

• Water that flows through arsenic rich rocks will pick the dangerous substance up and carry it to our water supplies.

Some of the effects of arsenic in water are:

In 2001 the Environmental Protection Agency changed the safe limits from 50 parts per billion (ppb) adopted in 1942 to 10 ppb. This brings the U.S. in line with the standards set by the World Health Organization and the European Union, and provides us with greater protection.

There are membranes that work to filter out the arsenic in the water to meet these safe guidelines. The question is - does your city have these filters? Or if you are in a rural area and have your own well, are you equipped with filtration methods that will remove arsenic from water?
