Got batwings? You know... that flabby swinging skin that hangs from the bottom of your arms. It's what keeps you from wearing tank tops and sleeveless dresses. As we age, skin loses elasticity and of gravity starts taking a toll on the skin too. This means that is loses its ability to bounce back into shape particularly after weight loss. Genetics plays a role in it as well. One way to reverse this dreaded condition is an arm lift.
The only problem is that most techniques make a long incision at from the elbow to just below the armpit. Yes, it is on the underside, but it is only hidden if you keep your arms at your side and that just looks weird. However, there is a technique that offers a scarless arm lift, but not everyone is a good candidate.
The procedure is referred to an inner arm tuck. The plastic surgeon makes a small incision in the crease of the armpit and performs any necessary liposuction first. This is to make the final result as smooth and contoured as possible. Then he pulls the skin taut and removes the excess.
Because the incision is made under the arm, the natural creasing hides the scar so no one will see it unless you walk round with your arms above your head.
Because the incision is so small, recovery is also faster and less painful than with a traditional arm lift. You can get back to work in 3 days. Within a week you can get back to normal activities including lower body workouts and cardio, but strenuous arm activity should be put on hold for about 6 weeks.
A majority of people with this problem qualify for the scarless arm lift option, but not everyone does. People who've lost a lot of weight from bariatic surgery generally are not good candidates because there is so much loose skin to deal with. They must have the traditional procedure to take care of the sagging skin.
If you are interested in a scarless arm lift, you have to find a plastic surgeon that knows and performs the technique so ask for it specifically. On a more general note, your surgeon must also be board certified to perform plastic surgery. His staff should have all of the training and certification to aid in surgical procedures and there must a plan in place to handle emergencies.
This procedure will give you the freedom to show off you arms in all the cute sleeveless outfits you've been dying to wear. It will also make your other tops fit better as well because all that excess skin is gone and not bunched up in your sleeves. With the scar hidden in the armpit, you can be confident in whatever you wear.
