Area Rugs and Decorating - Not Just for Women

We have always been curious to understand why people think that if we choose a rug it is for the woman. If we purchase drapes for the living room then it has to be for the woman and the appliances are only for the woman. Well, maybe back in the 1950's this was the case but now a day it is not and men are great decorators too. Every time we do go to pick out something for the house if you look back you bring your husband or the person living with you so you can get a second opinion. Sometimes, not actually most times my husband can find the better pieces, patterns and designs.

He was the one that found the Sphinx area rugs when we had gone to a local department store and I wanted a new valance for the kitchen. He had mentioned that in his office under the desk it would be nice to have an area rug there. This is something I would have never thought of but I guess looking at it now you have your feet there and the Sphinx area rug would give you the extra cushioning and comfort and warmth. He would be able to kick off his shoes while he is working at home.

Ladies, when it comes to decorating you may want to ask their opinion. They have an eye for the colors and the patterns. Sometimes colors that they put together look great when the room if finished. It also brought us closer together. It gave me a better understanding of decorating ideas because i always went with frilly. Now, I was trying some of the bolder colors to go with some of the neutral colors that offset the floral arrangements and pictures that I had in the different rooms. It certainly has made it easier to ask him to go to the store with me. The other thing we agreed on is for every project he does in the house he can have a new tool.

So, now he is not so unwilling to help with the projects in the home. Sometimes he suggests the project which I find funny. You may want to think about this and see if it might work in your home.
