Are You Making These 3 Web Marketing Mistakes?

Expert Author James D. Jackson

There are far more people who tried and quit at online marketing than we'll ever know. How is it possible that so many people failed? Part of the reason is they made a lot of avoidable mistakes. Often times if a person takes the time to get educated, and then makes a reasonable plan - those two things will prevent a lot of it from happening. Let's move forward and talk more about some of these avoidable mistakes so many people seem to commit over and over.

Many newer Internet marketers make the mistake of neglecting to build and nurture a responsive email list. It's important to find a way to get your customer's contact information, as this can help you to build a stronger foundation for your business. Making repeat sales to previous customers is quick and easy compared to the work you have to do in finding new customers.

If you capture customer's email addresses, it's simple to send them a message about new offers or promotions. Think of your mailing list as being your most important business asset. The people on your list are there for a reason. Those people feel a level of trust in you for emailing them information they wanted to know more about. You might think building your list is important, but forging a relationship with the people on it is crucial. You'll increase your chances of succeeding if you can work on building that level of trust within them.

You can build your list in a number of ways. You can build a list of past customers, you can add subscribers to your newsletter mailing list or just collect contact information from people want to receive a free gift for joining. However you choose to build your list, you should remember not to buy a ready-made list. Also, your list has to have targeted subscribers who will respond to your request. If you have a general list with just anybody on it, your efforts are diluted.

A lot of online marketers suffer from lack of creativity, or not able to think out of the box, so to speak. It's extremely important to stand out of the crowd if you want to be successful on the web. Sometimes the competition can be ferocious online, so being noticed by standing out can be profitable. There are a lot of marketers who don't even bother going the extra steps to stand out, so that is in your favor if you're willing to do it.

They seem to go the "copy the best, forget the rest" route. So never be afraid to put your own stamp on what you do in your business. For example, if you're creating an ebook, make it original instead of going for PLR content. Once you get started and do it, you'll look back and wonder why you didn't do it before.

Keeping focus on marketing your business is an extremely important rule. After all work, and your site is ready to go, then start hitting the marketing hard and never let up. Possibly many new marketers expect things to happen too quickly, and when they don't then they begin to get discouraged. A lot of times they'll give up and then begin another project. Consistency of efforts and focus will take you far, and it really makes no difference if you use SEO, PPC, or whatever.

All marketers make mistakes, but you can prevent many of them with preparation and learning. Effective learning of the right material can help prevent a ton of mistakes in IM.
