Anti-Stress Tips For Agents Working at a Philippine Call Center
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

The Philippines is one of the best contact center destinations in the world. Wikipedia has this to say about the Philippine call center industry: "... the Philippines remains as a top BPO destination for the estimated $150-billion business process outsourcing industry.

The industry was established over a decade ago, and has continuously developed and grown, spreading in major cities in the country like Manila, Cebu. Ortigas, Alabang, and Makati."

The job can be very demanding to the call center agent though. Thinking of the schedule alone, one can imagine how stressful it can be for them. They have to work at night time after all since most Philippine customer management services cater to clients in the United States. This makes it so hard for these people because they literally have to work at night and sleep during the day. There are many other circumstantial hardships that arise out of these call center agent's particular situation. And here are some tips in order to deal or manage with such stress.

Dealing with the Philippine Heat When Sleeping During the Day
This is something that no one seems to see. The problem may be small, but it is quite irritating. There are a lot of call center agents who lose a lot of sleep because of this. When agents go home, they are greeted with the noon day heat. This makes for uncomfortable sleep. Sleepers require darkness and the cool night air. The problem is, agents are forced to sleep through the noon time when the Philippine sun is high and the tropical heat can be unbearable. Waking up sweaty from an uncomfortable sleep, one will notice that one still feels quite tired and drained. Now think about that happening many nights in a row. That will surely affect one's work performance. The best thing to do is to sleep in an air-conditioned room. If that is not possible, you might want to look for a spot in your home that is cool and unlit. You can even consider cleaning a space in the basement for this. Or just completely cover the lights from your room. The entering sunlight from spaces in the window can affect one's sleep. Complete darkness is always the best for a great and fully relaxing sleep.

When Dealing With Irate Callers
This is the most usual job hazard. Working in a call center, one will always be met by a barrage of irate customers. This is inevitable. Some call agents on the other hand cannot deal well with this problem. The best solution here is to remind yourself everyday that the anger of these people is not your problem. You can write this down on a sticky note or on your notebook. Imagine yourself as a rock and imagine their angry shouts sliding off you like water. Soaking up their anger by taking things personally will only lead to stress and bad health.

Go to the Many Philippine Beaches Available
There are so many beaches in this beloved country. Call center agents have more or less a lot of savings because their salary compensation is very high. Take advantage of a weekend and go to the beach with friends. Try it, it might just take away the burdens, the stress from working in a Philippine call center.
