Anti-slice golf drivers have become increasingly popular in recent years, however some people believe that they are not actually a great idea. Are these people right? Let's explore the concept a little more.

Overall the drive is a shot which can have a great influence on the player's overall score. Thus a driver which can promise to cut down on slice seems to offer a very positive contribution. If you can hit a straight drive, you are literally well on your way down the fairway, whilst a slice could put you in trouble right from the start.
 
A slice is one of the most common problems that players have with the drive. Often the club face does not hit the ball square on because the player has put their all into getting more power into the shot.
 
The traditional way to go would be to just keep on working on your swing until you gradually improve. However, new developments in technology, have meant that people have started to look towards club design in order to correct the problem for them.  
 
How it works is that an anti slice driver will be shaped in a particular way in order to counteract a slice shot. Thus if you hit the ball with a regular driver you may have sliced the shot, however when you hit the ball with the anti slice club you hit straighter and it also tends to get the ball higher with more backspin. Some people don't like anti slice shots because they feel that these clubs are really just masking the problem rather than correcting it. Thus, if you then use any other club your slice will immediately be evident again. That seems a reasonable point, however it is often only on the drive, because of the length of the shot, that the slice is evident anyway, so it is usually not as bad with other clubs anyway.
Another reason people don't like these clubs, is because they view them as cheating. However, what we must remember here is that the game of golf constantly evolves because of changes in equipment and technology. In fact throughout history professional golfers have tried different clubs in order to improve their game and to reduce their score. All clubs are regulated and you can be sure that any popular club fits the rules. Within the rules, it is therefore not possible that you can say that simply a new design of club is cheating, that is unless we want to start saying that we have to have a standard set of clubs for very player.
 
Everyone is different and therefore whilst it is true that some players will find fault with these anti-slice clubs, for others, especially those who have worked long and hard to improve their slice with little result, they can be a big plus. So overall I think we can conclude that for some, anti slice golf drivers really can help your game.
