Are you looking for ideas to help you find just the right words to include in your wedding anniversary invitations? You can now customize your invites with whatever you want to say.  Most people just find it easier to go along with the sample text shown in their chosen design. But you don't have to settle for someone else's wording.  Here's some easy tips to guide you in personalizing your invitations.

1. Who, what, when, where. This is the most uncreative part, but the first thing you have to do is write down the essentials.  Make a list of what your guests need to know to attend your party. This includes who the celebration is for (names of the couple), what anniversary they are celebrating, the date, the time, the place and where it is located.  Don't forget the RSVP information.  It is easy to get distracted with fine-tuning the rest of the wording and accidently leave out something important.

2. Will the party be formal or casual?  If the celebration will be more on the informal side, you can reflect that in your wording.  You might start with something like, "Guess who's been married for 25 years, and still going strong!" If it's going to be a fancier event, you will probably want to begin with a more traditional tone, such as, "Mary and John Smith request the honor of your presence as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary."

3. Who is hosting the party? Many times the children of the happy couple are planning the festivities.  You might want to include that information in your invitation, by saying something like, "Please join us as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our parents, Elizabeth and Joseph Martin at a dinner in their honor".

4. Let your guests know what to wear. Whether you're having an elegant reception or a backyard barbecue, give people an idea of the appropriate clothing for the occasion.  You can use phrases such as formal attire, black-tie optional, dress to impress, semi formal or casual dress.

5. Use a favorite quote, Bible verse or short poem.  You can find great resources online for quotations and sayings that you can add to your invitations.  Here are a few suggestions:

* Side by side, year by year!

* Anniversary - a time to celebrate the beauty, the gift, and the blessing of enduring love.

* A celebration of yesterday's dream fulfilled, tomorrow's promise renewed.

* There are three things that last: faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love. - The Bible: I Corinthians 13:13

6. Borrow from other invitations.  One of the best ways to find just the right words for your invitations, is to look at other invites online. Write down the phrases that appeal to you, then combine text from that list to create your own perfect personalized message.

7. A picture is worth a thousand words. Consider adding an old wedding photo and perhaps a current one to your anniversary invitations.  While this is not technically text, photographs can speak volumes to your guests, stirring feelings and generating enthusiasm for the upcoming party..

Of course, you want the wording on your anniversary invitations to be perfect  Just follow these simple tips and you'll be on your way to creating your unique customized invites, as you ask your guests to share the milestone occasion of this enduring marriage.
